10 Shocks WWE Could Pull At WrestleMania 34

8. ...In A Match Rusev Wins

The absolute joy that is Rusev is over, organically, as a babyface. But he's foreign, and thus automatically a heel, and WWE Superstars are not permitted to get over unless creative gets them over.

This renders his winning the United States Championship a remote possibility, although, optimistically, it's telling that WWE thinks enough of the man to not allow him to languish in the André The Giant Memorial Battle Royal. Although, cynically, perhaps WWE anticipated a miniature Daniel Bryan Royal Rumble 2014 backlash if Rusev did not emerge from it victorious. A slightly less anonymous spot on the card might act as cynical compromise.

A Rusev win would restore the genuine magic behind the so-called 'Mania moment, too. WrestleMania used to be the stage on which genuine achievement was recognised, as Steve Austin's organic rise to the main event in 1996 and 1997 was recognised in 1998. Much of this entry is almost hysterically cynical. Providing fans with something they want would go some way towards softening that mentality.

It's only the United States Title. Even Dolph Ziggler couldn't care less about it. Come on, lads. It's Rusev Day.
