Period in WCW: 22 August 1995 to 30 October 1995

After cultivating a reputation as a high-risk hardcore wrestler and World Champion in ECW, Sabu left the company under controversy as he no-showed an event to wrestle in Japan.

When he returned to America, he signed with WCW. Sabu debuted on 11 September 1995 episode of Nitro opposite Alex Wright. He was over with the crowd, literally threw his body into the match, and looked legitimately unhinged. After winning the bout, Sabu continued the attack and drove Wright through a table, causing referee Nick Patrick to reverse the match decision.

In his time with WCW, Sabu was primarily used for hardcore spots and to work with the competitors in the up-and-coming Cruiserweight Division. Sabu’s solo WCW pay-per-view appearance was against the masked luchador Mr. J.L. (future ECW standout Jerry Lynn) at Halloween Havoc 1995. The encounter was a short match (3:25) but was fast-paced and peppered with high-risk spots. Sabu picked up the win after his manager The Sheik threw a fireball into J.L.’s face.

'The Homicidal, Suicidal, Genocidal, Death–Defying Maniac' made his return to ECW on 18 November 1995 at November to Remember besting Hack Meyers.
