Let it be known that 'Bam Bam' Terry Gordy was one of the finest and most hard-hitting wrestlers of his generation. In the 80s, he was a crucial part of The Fabulous Freebirds (Gordy acted as the smash-mouth worker behind Michael Hayes' promos), but injuries and health issues had taken their toll by the mid-90s.

Seeking a way to help out his friend, Hayes campaigned for Terry to be brought in as the masked Executioner, a character designed to pad out The Undertaker's ongoing feud with Mankind and ex-manager Paul Bearer. Though it wasn't a gig that had longevity, it did provide an opportunity for Gordy to prove himself.

One pay-per-view match later, he was done.

The Executioner lost to 'Taker at In Your House 12: It's Time then left the promotion after jobbing to Goldust on a mid-january 1997 edition of Superstars. The gimmick is considered a curious, almost sad portion of Gordy's career. He wasn't the blood and thunder worker he'd been before.
