Alright, so everyone knows about Billy Gunn's King Of The Ring win in 1999 and an attempted skyward push at SummerSlam against The Rock. Most also know that the ex-New Age Outlaw's grand moment fell flat; so flat, in fact, that he was back in the tag-team ranks shortly afterwards.

WWE tried Gunn on for size again the next year.

The handsome devil returned in October 2000 as 'The One' Billy Gunn. His entrance tune was a total banger (just saying), but there was nothing to the character change beyond that. 'The One' was as generic a nickname as they come, and not even a brief IC Title reign could ignite Bill's solo career.

He tried his best though. Apparently, someone on the writing team believed that Gunn just didn't have it when flying solo, and he was dumped back in a temp tag with Big Show (Show-Gunns represent, baby) by mid-2001.

At least they gave him another crack at it.
