10 Shortest Brock Lesnar Matches Since His WWE Return
5. Vs. Cain Velasquez (2:10)
Mere moments removed from his quick victory over Kofi Kingston (which is still to come on this list) on SmackDown's FOX premiere, Brock Lesnar was confronted by one of his greatest rivals in UFC: Cain Velasquez, who beat Lesnar at UFC 121 in October 2010. Lesnar was never able to avenge the loss before leaving the company the following year.
Reigniting their rivalry inside the squared circle almost a decade later was brilliant, except the buildup to their WWE Championship match at Crown Jewel wasn't as exciting as it had the potential to be. It could and should have been saved for a bigger show (such as WrestleMania) down the road, but WWE was adamant about loading up the Crown Jewel card.
It's also worth noting that Velasquez competed in all of two wrestling matches before signing with WWE, so his inexperience was on full display when he faced Lesnar. They traded punches and kicks for two minutes (playing off their respective mixed martial arts backgrounds) before Lesnar locked in his patented Kimura submission hold and forced his foe to tap almost instantly.
It would be a stretch to say the matchup was terrible, though it was undoubtedly underwhelming based off their history and Velasquez's badass reputation.
It was strange seeing Rey Mysterio come to his aid and fend off Lesnar from the ring, when in reality, the roles really should have been reversed.
