In 2010, WWE was forced to abandon its ill-fated attempt to reboot ECW amid concerns that the Tuesday night show was failing to pull in the kind of attendance and TV viewership numbers officials had once anticipated.

On an unrelated note, Kane beat Chavo Guerrero for the ECW Championship in 11 seconds at WrestleMania XXIV, the brand's only match of the night. (Keep in mind that they actually used to claim Royal Rumble winners could go for this belt.)

To be fair, there is an important caveat here. Kane essentially ambushed his opponent by emerging from beneath the ring instead of walking down the entrance ramp like a normal wrestler; it was this, supposedly, that caught the champion off guard.

But it really set the tone for a drab final couple of years of ECW. With CM Punk soon after heading for Raw, the show became less a springboard for up-and-coming young talent than it did a retirement home for displaced veterans. Not even Braden Walker could steer the ship around.
