10 Shortest Matches In WWE WrestleMania History
2. King Kong Bundy Vs. Special Delivery Jones (WrestleMania) (0:09)
For more than 30 years, the (official, but not really) record for the shortest-ever WrestleMania match was held by King Kong Bundy and Special Delivery Jones, the duo having set a seemingly impossible bar by going for a mere nine seconds at the very first event back in 1985.
This match came just a couple of weeks after Bundy had made his WWE bow, having been introduced shortly after his move from the indies as an all-conquering, take-no-prisoners heel of the kind that was regularly fed to Hulk Hogan.
At this point, he wasn't exactly practised in the art of 15- or 20-minute classics, either. In the territories, squash matches were pretty much all he ever did, his gimmick being that he would demand the referee count to five instead of the usual three.
Given that, and the fact that SD Jones - essentially, little more than a glorified jobber - was hardly pulling up any trees himself, this made perfect sense for all involved (and, yes, Bundy did eventually get his chance to lose to Hogan the following year).
