Time: 9 minutes, 1 second.

Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose were both wrestling for the second time in Survivor Series 2015’s last match. This makes the shorter matches a little more explainable, but their match still felt abrupt and underdeveloped.

The WWE World Heavyweight Championship had been vacated following Seth Rollins’ knee injury, and a tournament was underway. The night had opened with Reigns defeating Alberto Del Rio and Ambrose overcoming Kevin Owens in the semi-finals, and concluded with the former Shield brothers facing-off. They both went all-out from the first bell, but there’s only so much you can do it nine minutes.

They ending came out of nowhere with Reigns escaping a striking exchange, then blasting Ambrose with a Spear to earn his first WWE Championship, but it wasn’t to last. Sheamus, one of the most divisive Money In The Bank winners of all-time cashed-in on Roman, one of the most divisive champions of all-time. The Irishman took the gold, and Reigns left disappointed.

On a night where only one match went over 15 minutes, Reigns vs. Ambrose was nipped in the bud just as it was building steam. The cash-in (and Reigns and Ambrose’s subsequent work) has erased most people’s memory of this one, but it was another subpar Survivor Series main event.
