Since the demise of The Shield, Roman Reigns seemed to have a rocket strapped to his back headed straight towards superstardom. Heading into Night of Champions, he had a number of big singles wins under his belt including Kane and Randy Orton, and was set to face Seth Rollins at the pay-per-view Then, on the day before the event, it was announced that Reigns would not be appearing at Night of Champions due to a sudden onset illness. He was found to have an incarcerated hernia which required immediate medical attention, and was rushed to the emergency room for treatment. Dr. Chris Amann, WWEs physician released this statement about Romans condition
"At the time of the surgery, surgeons found a loop of small intestine was caught in the hernia sac, which would account for the pain and discomfort that Roman was having earlier in the evening. The surgeons released the hernia sac so the intestine could be pushed back into the abdominal cavity."Once they were satisfied blood supply had returned to the intestine after releasing the hernia, they went ahead and completed the procedure. A mesh was placed over where the hernia had occurred to prevent future occurrences."
Reigns has been recovering since, and WWE has been providing updates on his condition. In the most recent update, he revealed he would be back before the end of the year. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P9Pc-I-R-o0
