10 Sickest WWE Injuries Of 2014

4. CM Punk

CM Punk hasn€™t been with WWE since walking out in late January, but his recent appearance on Colt Cabana€™s Art of Wrestling podcast revealed he€™d been working with a gruesome injury for some time. During the conversation, he talks about finding a small lump on his back, and going to Dr. Chris Amann about it, who told him it€™s fine as long as it doesn€™t hurt. Punk was prescribed antibiotics, but the lump continued to get bigger and began bruising, leaving him worried about what it was. Every time he tried to get Dr. Amann to cut it out, he was told they couldn€™t do it that night because Punk had to wrestle. Things got worse at the Royal Rumble when Kofi Kingston's first shot to Punk caused his head to whiplash against the mat, giving Punk a concussion. They brought Kane out to eliminate Punk early, but Punk refused leaving Kane to sneak around trying to avoid the camera until he was due to reappear. After Punk left WWE, he went to see AJ Lee€™s doctor in Florida who took one look at it and immediately diagnosed it as a staph infection. This is a common condition among wrestlers due to the amount of time they spend on wrestling mats, and something Dr. Amann should have been able to diagnose immediately. Punk had the staph infection treated there and then in what he described as the most painful experience of his life. Staph infections can be fatal if they get far enough along, so Dr. Amann may be in some serious trouble if this story gets any deal of traction in mainstream news outlets.
