10 Signs Dolph Ziggler Could Be On His Way Out Of WWE
7. He's Put Over Plenty Of New Talent This Year
Dolph Ziggler is at the point in his WWE stint where the company sees him as a stepping stone for up-and-coming talent and doesn't plan to give him anything of note to do. He has been stuck in this purgatory for years, but it has been especially evident so far in 2017.
On the very first episode of SmackDown Live in the new year, he put over Baron Corbin before entering a program with Apollo Crews and Kalisto. He beat both men on occasion, but he largely lost most of his matches against them, including at Elimination Chamber.
From there, he set his sights on winning the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal, and shortly before WrestleMania 33, he came up short against eventual victor Mojo Rawley on SmackDown. Finally, he faced off with Shinsuke Nakamura at Backlash and on the 20 June SmackDown, falling short of victory both times.
As noted, he did beat AJ Styles clean in late May, but that was simply to give him a momentum boost heading into Money in the Bank. The company does view him as an asset, but only so he can makes others look good.
