7. A Not Underwhelming Undercard Attraction

The injury to Dean Ambrose was inevitable, really: the man withstood the WWE grind for years, wrestling more matches than any of his peers. And WWE once wrote him off for being lazy. You can't make it up.

You also can't book Ambrose to belatedly avenge Seth Rollins' 2014 treachery on the Grandest Stage, which is why, as is rumoured, WWE is heading towards a collision between Rollins and his makeshift partner Jason Jordan. On paper, that is a not something about which to coo in anticipation - but overloading 'Mania undermines matches that do - see Kevin Owens Vs. Chris Jericho, WrestleMania 33, which could not follow such an exhausting opening attraction. A wrestling card needs ebb and flow to sustain interest throughout; if everything is framed as *****, nothing becomes *****. Even Michael Bay dispenses with the explosions to build interest ahead of the next one.

Jason Jordan Vs. Seth Rollins is a fine addition to the card - and there is scope also to do something memorable with it. Even something as simplistic as Jordan entering the Superdome in full Kurt Angle regalia, to really underscore his delusional schtick, would add to 'Mania's not-like-any-other-night aura - even if, realistically, it's a pairing that at time of writing that is mundane enough to blow off on next week's episode of RAW.
