10 Signs Wrestling Is Heading Towards A New Golden Age
8. Triple H's Growing Influence
Vince McMahon might be 72 years old, but WWE's Chairman and CEO remains active in the company's day-to-day operations, and has never shown signs of relinquishing control. Regardless, there'll come a time when age inevitably forces him to step back, and when he does, it's assumed that control will be passed to his daughter and stepson.
Triple H's power has grown immensely throughout his marriage to Stephanie McMahon. He's one of the most influential men in the company at the moment, and while the idea that WWE would be a totally different promotion under his custodianship is fanciful, there are plenty of reasons to be cheerful about his inevitable promotion.
NXT's rise as a viable third brand and WWE's shift towards signing greater volumes of former indie stars can both be attributed to 'The Game,' and he also had a hand in the Women's Revolution. Each of these things have made WWE a better place. We can likely look forward to similar moves when he and Stephanie eventually take control, resulting in a more progressive-minded product that appeals to a wider range of fans, though they'll no doubt retain some of Vince's more infuriating characteristics.
