10 Signs Your Favourite Wrestler Was Turning Heel

2. Cody Ruins Christmas

It’s been more than a little unfocused for well over a year in AEW’s convoluted and slightly confusing Codyverse, but the ‘American Nightmare’ managed to tie a lot of loose threads together when he dethroned Sammy Guevara on a Christmas Day edition of Rampage.

An d*ck move of the highest order from the man that swore he'd never turn heel, Rhodes presented the biggest red flag yet that it is coming. Underneath the chaos, anyway.

Cody luxuriated in ruining Guevara's holidays and derailing his momentum because he knew he could. Following their ladder match ripper of a rematch, the goal behind the scenes seems to have been to re-establish 'The Spanish God' as a force following a maiden run that stuttered rather than shone.

The success of that remains to be seen, but Rhodes was at very least the perfect foil to see him cheered as he literally and figuratively climbed the AEW ladder once again.
