10 Small Details Wrestling Still Can’t Get Right

4. The Dynamic To Relationships

If WWE's writers can successfully handle Seth Rollins' heel turn without involving Becky Lynch then they'll show they've grown up. Mere months ago, Seth and Becky were acting like a pair of lovestruck teenagers flirting over school lunch. It almost wrecked Lynch's credibility as a tough-nosed bad ass.

Over in AEW, Penelope Ford is forced to hang off Kip Sabian like she's his high-school prom date. Their dynamic, and the one previously shared by Seth and Becky in WWE, proves that pro wrestling doesn't know a damn thing about adult relationships. They prefer awkward, dorky exchanges to realistic, mature romance.

What next? Becky shedding tears at Seth badmouthing Rey Mysterio because she's a babyface?

This black and white approach to love lacks the finesse of other soap opera-style programs on TV. Wrestling presents men and women in relationships as dough-eyed morons, not respected athletes who just so happen to have a connection and can keep their hands off one another in public.
