10 Spine-Chilling WWE Calls You'll Never Forget

8. "Mankind Has Achieved His Dream..."

Here's another call from Michael Cole, everyone's least favourite member of the WWE announce team. If we're not careful, people might start getting the impression that he's actually a half-way decent commentator.

On this occasion, it was Mankind's historic WWF Title victory on the 3 January, 1999 edition of Raw is War; the one same day on which thousands of wrestling fans switched over from Nitro, and Hogan versus Nash, to see what was happening on the USA Network.

The viewers who did get to hear Cole - who was filling in for JR (absent over this period for health reasons) - make the call, "Mankind has achieved his dream, and the dream of everyone else who's been told, 'you can't do it'."

Would this have sounded better coming out of the mouth of Jim Ross? Perhaps, but it captured the spirit of Mick Foley's confetti moment perfectly. He was wrestling's every-man: unpolished and rough around the edges - and his claiming wrestling's biggest prize was genuinely life-affirming for those made to believe they weren't good enough.
