10 Spine-Tingling UFC Homecomings
2. Georges St-Pierre (Montreal, UFC 124)
You could argue that Georges St-Pierre was the single greatest MMA fighter ever to step foot in the Octagon. However, there's no argument necessary when discussing the best Martial Artist ever to call Canada home…spoiler...it's him.
If his three Canadian Athlete of the Year awards didn't show you just how cherished he was as Canada's favourite star in the company, his reception at UFC 124 certainly reinforced that fact and when he strutted into the Bell Centre in Montreal (his hometown) for the first time since unifying the Welterweight titles, the sound was enchanting to say the least.
Josh Koscheck obviously felt the full effects of this heavily biased crowd investment towards GSP and proceeded to be bullied for all three of the championship rounds. It was almost unfair to see the usually brash Koscheck with the deck stacked so highly against him, but the star from Quebec didn't care and neither did his fellow natives.
Joe Rogan went as far as to say that it was 'the most jabs (he'd) ever seen in an MMA fight' and Koscheck's broken orbital bone evidenced this. That gruesome injury only gave more voice to GSP's thunderous hometown audience, who were clearly overjoyed to see their boy's constant tormentor convincingly shut up.
