Given that Jose Aldo just signed an eight-fight contract earlier this year and appears to be next in line to face Henry Cejudo for the bantamweight strap, folks might be a little surprised to see his name on the list.

However, it should be noted that the former two-time UFC Featherweight Champion was considering retirement prior to signing his most recent contract. With thirty-four professional fights under his belt, he has a lot of mileage on him for a 33-year-old.

Furthermore, the Brazilian striker recently moved down to bantamweight at an age when most fighters would consider moving up a division. The weight cut will no doubt add additional stress to Aldo's battle-worn body.

If the title fight between Cejudo and Aldo happens, win or lose, it would seem a logical exit point for the latter.

If Aldo loses the potential matchup, it's unlikely he'll want to continue making a difficult weight cut for the relatively slim chance he'd have at getting another crack at the gold. Moreover, a move back up to featherweight seems unlikely, given that he recently lost to the major players there. Conversely, if he wins, going out as two-division champ would be a storybook ending to a hall of fame career.
