10 Stars WWE Should Never Have Let Go

1. Randy Savage

Vince McMahon's plan to make Randy Savage a WWF ambassador and colour commentator could have worked, but the boss would have had to placate Randy's desire to continue wrestling occasionally too. That wasn't on the cards in 1994 though, and led Savage to seek solace in WCW for a full-time wrestling gig.

Defying the notion that he was 'too old' to continue headlining, Savage worked on top in Atlanta for another five years. The idea that he should be put out to pasture didn't make sense. When he made his final WWF appearance on the 31 October 1994 episode of Raw, Randy was only 41 years old. To put that into perspective, AJ Styles, John Cena, and Brock Lesnar are all 40, and even relatively 'new' faces like Braun Strowman and Shinsuke Nakamura are 34 and 37 respectively.

Savage still had a lot to offer, and he proved it in WCW. The problem there is that the tickets he sold between 1994-99 were for McMahon's competition, not the WWF. If only Vince had relented and given Randy that Shawn Michaels feud he so desperately craved, things might have turned out different.
