10 Stars WWE Should Never Have Let Go

5. Cody Rhodes

Was there a more depressing sight in 2015-16 than watching poor Cody Rhodes brave face the awful Stardust character on WWE TV? Clearly wishing the writers would just move on from the gimmick and let him be himself, Cody eventually made up his mind and asked for a release.

It's hard to argue with the results post-WWE. Excelling everywhere from WCPW and ROH to New Japan, Rhodes has become one of the hardest-working men in all of pro wrestling. Just look at his match against Kazuchika Okada during Night 1 of the G1 Special In USA card this past July for proof. Away from the garish Stardust guff, Cody is one hell of an in-ring performer.

Scan the SmackDown roster and it's also obvious that Rhodes would be an asset to WWE right now. Someone with such vast experience and a huge upside like Cody definitely shouldn't have been allowed to grow disenfranchised by the WWE system.

Was it really worth it so Stardust could continue to appear? No, it wasn't.
