10 Stars WWE Should Never Have Let Go

6. MVP

It came as a surprise when WWE announced that MVP had departed the company in late-2010, even more so when he joined NJPW shortly afterwards. Later, MVP himself told The Miami Herald that WWE agreed to let him out of the final year of his contract so he could hit Japan. MVP's decision to leave wasn't a knee-jerk reaction.

Growing increasingly frustrated by the lack of upward mobility in WWE, the ex-United States Champion decided to call it quits and try his luck elsewhere. After being drafted to Raw in 2009, it looked like he'd go on to become World Champion, but the creative team proceeded to do absolutely nothing with the character and squandered his potential as a babyface.

That irked MVP to the point of leaving just over four years after debuting. WWE should have given MVP a reason to stick around; he surely would have had assurances been made of progression. Finding a gimmick like MVP's, one that doesn't need repackaging to remain fresh, is rare, so he should've been a bigger success.
