3. Edge

WWE.comEdge was a man who made his name in the tag division, winning an astonishing 12 tag titles across his career. And although the bulk of them came with Christian (seven), he won it with men like Chris Jericho and Chris Benoit later in his career. But it isn't the tag division that ranks Edge so highly on this list. It's the fact that in a period of just five years (from 2006 to his retirement in 2011), Edge won 11 world titles with the WWE. That's largely down to the WWE's ability to pass the belts around like canapes at a high-class dinner party, but it's still a stupidly high number. Of course, two of those victories came in impromptu matches, owing to Edge's Money in the Bank briefcase wins back in 2005 and 2007. But he has more World Heavyweight Championship wins than any other star in WWE history, winning that belt on seven occasions. Nobody can doubt Edge's talent, and indeed his popularity. He still remains one of the most loveable wrestlers of the past 20 years. But he simply won too much gold on too many occasions.
