A lot of anti-PG era gripes come down to the sadness at wrestlers no longer getting blasted over the head with chairs. This was a staple of the late 90s era of professional wrestling, and has since led to all manner of horrors and long-term injuries, including more concussions than one cares to count.

You simply aren't going to see chair shots to the head anymore and good riddance, and WWE's policy on this was well and truly backed up after the battle between The Undertaker and Triple H at WrestleMania XXVII. Hunter blasted Undertaker with an unprotected chair shot to the skull, with not even Taker's giant gloves being able to protect his head from the contact. There's only so many ways you can get hit safely in the head with a pro wrestling chair, and directly to the head isn't one of them.

Before the chair shot Hunter also hit Undertaker with the pedigree (his second), and there wasn't much in the way of protection with it. It wasn't Hunter Hearst Helmsley 'bye bye neck' levels, but Undertaker was visibly struggling with his neck for the remainder of the match.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
