10 Sting Matches You Must Watch On WWE Network

6. War Games (Wrestle War 1991)

http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xz7lse_14-91-02-24-wargames-wrestlewar_sport One of the best matches of the 1990s pitted Sting, Brian Pillman, and the Steiner Brothers against Sid Vicious, Barry Windham, Ric Flair, and Larry Zbyszko in the dreaded War Games cage match. For those of your who have never seen a War Games match, first of all what is wrong with you? Secondly, the match starts with one competitor from each team battling in two rings side-by-side with a cage surrounding both. After a period of time, one team (always the heels) gets to enter another guy. After both teams are completely in the ring, the "Match Beyond" begins and you can only win by submission. They are usually bloody, brutal affairs and this one was no different. Brian Pillman suffered a hurt shoulder courtesy of a Four Horsemen beatdown and was the plucky underdog the entire match. The heels would brutalize him the entire match, ramming his shoulder into the ring post and cages while gleefully ripping the bandages off of it. The babyfaces would do their own damage as well, with the Steiners clotheslining everything in sight and Sting beating the Horsemen up like he was having the time of his life. Sting would press Flair into the roof of the cage in an awesome spot and then the babyfaces all applied the figure four to the heels, causing the crowd to go insane. However, the most famous spot in the match almost legitimately crippled Brian Pillman. Sid lifted Pillman up for a powerbomb but the cage was too low and Pillman's legs hit the roof, causing Sid to powerbomb him right down on his neck, almost killing him in the process. To make it worse, SId then picked Pillman up and did it again, injuring Pillman for real and almost ending his life and career. An improvised finish saw El Gigante running out to surrender and give the match to the Four Horsemen.
