8. Ryback’s Streak

After an initial run as part of The Nexus (keep an eye out for them later), Skip Sheffield returned to WWE TV two years later with a new name and even more muscles.

The freshly-rebranded Ryback quickly established himself as a monster. He tore through jobbers and lower-card fodder like a hot knife through butter and got extremely over in the process. Maybe he was popular was because he reminded fans of another bald-headed WCW bruiser from over a decade earlier.

As soon as they got a glimpse of WWE's new pet project, fans made comparisons to Bill Goldberg. Those comparisons only got louder once the younger star embarked on his own undefeated streak. It didn't help that Ryback's finisher, Shell Shocked, also involved lifting opponents above his head, much like the Jackhammer.

Once Ryback ditched his singlet and started wrestling in black trunks, it seemed as if WWE were fully leaning into the resemblance.

Unfortunately, by the time Goldberg returned to WWE in late 2016, Ryback had been let go. Although, when you think about how god-awful a match between those two would have been, perhaps it isn't that unfortunate.
