10 Strange Wrestling Debuts That Left Fans Bewildered

2. The Ultimate Comedown

The Ultimate Warrior was certainly one of wrestling's more controversial characters. A charismatic, colourful madman in the ring, Warrior won over many a young fan in the late eighties/early nineties with his smashmouth offense and explosive intensity. He would later lose most of those fans when he revealed himself to be a hateful bigot who openly delighted in Bobby Heenan's cancer diagnosis.

So it's hard to feel too bad for him when he torpedoed his WCW debut by overshooting his allotted promo time by around 20 minutes.

According to Eric Bischoff, The Ultimate Warrior was only supposed to speak for seven or eight minutes at most but kept rambling for close to half an hour. It was like Chris Jericho's famous "Armbar" promo, except any comedy was entirely unintentional. Trying to follow even a three minute Warrior promo is mentally exhausting, so one can hardly blame the WCW audience for tuning out during the Warrior's epic soliloquy.

Despite his shoddy reputation as a worker the Warrior was capable of pulling off epic matches with the right opponents, but when it came to promos he was better off following the "less is more" policy.
