The late ‘90s editions of WWF magazines were strange ones. The April 1998 Raw Magazine in particular stands out from the pack. In the same issue featuring a widespread picture of Shawn Michaels’ bare ass, it featured an entire article written by Vince Russo criticizing and chastising a tabloid newspaper in New York.

Before Russo booked everything and anything on a pole match and “Fire Russo” chants rang out of The Impact Zone at TNA, he was simply a writer for WWF Magazine under the pseudonym Vic Venom. And Venom lambasted The New York Post in this issue for them scrutinising and judging Mike Tyson’s decision to get into business with WWF for WrestleMania XIV, carelessly giving TNYP much more attention than it deserved.

Titled ‘Why The Media’s A !@#$% Joke’, it featured a picture of the New York Post crumpled up in a toilet. Russo capitalized words and used punctuation in lieu of swearing to get his points across. To give you a teaser, he begins the article with ‘I DON’T EVEN KNOW why I read the @#$! Paper. Especially in New York. The writers… are a joke. All self made DEMI-gods… all “mightier than thou” all egotistical maniacs. All full of @#$%!!!’

It was one big unnecessary rant and ramble from Russo, years before he did it weekly on a podcast.
