7. Kurt Angle’s Gold Medals - Stolen

Look at both pics above. Can you spot the difference? The left one (from 1999) shows Kurt Angle donning his real Olympic gold medals, but the right one (2001) has carefully-designed fakes that meant Kurt could keep the legit ones at home. Why? Well, because fans kept trying to steal them.

Angle told his podcast listeners recently that someone did get their mucky mitts on his hard-won medals following a Raw show in 2000. Kurt stopped to sign some autographs outside the arena, and put his bag down on the ground. That's when somebody nabbed it and sprinted away with the goods.

Vince McMahon told event security to do whatever they could to get the medals back, and the fan eventually returned them. After that, the WWE boss suggested that Angle start carrying fakes, but that didn't stop the lust for gold; Kurt revealed that several sets of mock medals went missing over the next six years of his run too.

He didn't mind that so much, 'cause they were cheap enough for WWE to make.
