Though The Undertaker had obviously been buried alive on a couple of occasions before 2003, he hadn't been written off television for that long a spell after those matches against Mankind and 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin.

However, 'Taker was a very different man coming into his Buried Alive match with Mr. McMahon at Survivor Series and this individual wouldn't be able to shake off all that dirt quite so easily.

After his brother Kane interfered in the contest, 'Big Evil' was laid to rest for good by the WWE Chairman and he wouldn't be seen again for four whole months.

This was clearly done to pump some new life back into the character of The Undertaker, but on the surface it was absolutely nuts. A human being had been literally covered in dirt and left for dead as part of a wrestling television show.

He would finally make a triumphant return as a modern version of his original 'Deadman' persona and battled his despicable brother at WrestleMania XX, but before this WWE were repeatedly telling fans that one of their favourite stars had been legitimately murdered by his brother and his boss.
