10 Strangest Ways Wrestlers Were Written Off TV
7. Paul Bearer Buried In Cement
When The Undertaker made his aforementioned 2004 return, he did so with his old manager Paul Bearer by his side.
The sight of the old 'Deadman' methodically walking towards the ring with Bearer was one fans had grown used to throughout the '90s and it definitely helped re-establish the character all these years later.
However, this alliance wouldn't last as long as some may have hoped.
After Paul Heyman ordered The Dudley Boyz to kidnap Bearer so that he could take control of 'Taker's urn, the 'Phenom' would eventually find himself in a handicap match against the tag team at The Great American Bash. The stipulation being that, if he lost, Bearer would be buried in cement. Yep.
'Taker eventually won the match and stopped Heyman from pouring cement on his long-time manager, but he then shockingly buried Bearer himself.
Sure, Bearer wasn't an in-ring performer like the majority of the other names on this list, but this was still a crazy way of writing a recognisable face off WWE TV. Bearer would be used as a booker for a while after leaving 'Taker to go solo, until he was eventually let go in 2005. He would then finally return to WWE television in 2010 as part of another Undertaker vs. Kane storyline before sadly passing away in 2013..
