While we are on the subject of 'classic' TNA, let's take a look at one of the worst-executed steel cage matches in wrestling history, courtesy of Dixie Carter and her tremendous creative team. Just looking at that large, red monstrosity should tell you all you need to know about the match. First of all, it was extraordinarily difficult to see what was going on in the ring because the thick red bars of the cage obstructed the view of the ring. Secondly, the object of the match is to climb out of the cage but the only opening is at the very top of the roof, requiring the wrestler to have the monkey-like ability to scale the thing, all the while constantly worrying about falling and breaking their necks. When TNA attempted to restart the Monday Night War on January 4, 2010, they featured the Steel Asylum. Not only could you not see any of the action in the ring but Homicide, the booked winner of the match, became stuck as he attempted to exit the roof of the structure. The announcers attempted to cover for Homicide the best they could but it became very clear that he wasn't playing around and was legitimately fearful of falling directly on his head. With the move to Pop TV, at least we can rest easy knowing that only a few dozen people will see this match, should TNA ever bring it out of the mothballs.
