In 2006, WWE decided to release its most horrible creation on their legions of fans around the world: The push of the Great Khali. Despite being one of the absolute worst wrestlers in the history of wrestling, WWE pushed the giant native of India all the the way to the World Heavyweight title. To make matters even worse, they gave him his very own and very stupid gimmick match. At the 2006 Great American Bash event, Khali was slated to face the Undertaker in the first Punjabi Prison match. The structure consisted of two bamboo cages which wrestlers had to escape much like a standard cage match. However, there were time limits as to how long the doors to the cages could be open and, if those time limits expired, the wrestlers would be forced to climb over the walls of the cage, which had been fashioned into sharp spikes. The match lost its point once the event arrived, as Khali was medically unable to perform at the event so the Big Show took his place. That's right, the first-ever Punjabi Prison match was the Undertaker vs. the Big Show. When Khali was finally able to compete in "his match" at No Mercy 2007, he was slow, plodding, boring, and, basically, the Great Khali. Batista did his best to pull a good match out of the immobile behemoth but he was fighting a lost cause. The match wasn't salvageable. Being sent to an actual Punjabi prison might just be more enjoyable than watching Khali wrestle.
