10 Strangest WWE Trademarks

1. WWF: The Strip Club

I'll finish with what is probably the least surprising application, considering Vince McMahon and the WWE's long history of treating women as things for men to gawp and stare at. The company's history of objectifying the females employed there goes deep, with Bra and Panties matches and bikini contests the norm for a while.

It goes as little surprise that in October 1998 the then-World Wrestling Federation filed an application to trademark 'WWF The Strip Club'. The application was for use in toys of all things, for arcade games, jigsaw puzzles and video games. This gives the impression that Titan Sports wasn't actually interested in opening a line of Gentlemen's Clubs, but with Vince's track record you never know.

The Strip Club never came about, and the trademark was dead one year after application. It lives on in the minds of young teenage boys worldwide.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
