After Hulk Hogan beat Vince McMahon at WrestleMania XIX, in a match billed as '20 Years in the Making', the WWE chairman had to gain a measure of revenge. So he made the Hulkster sit out the rest of his contract at home! He would still be paid but he wouldn't have to actually wrestle anybody for it! Vince McMahon, you son of a b****. Of course the worst thing you can do to Hulk Hogan is tell him he can't appear in front of the cameras, so Hogan devised a genius way to get back in the limelight. He put on a mask and called himself Mr. America. It was one of those clever lawyery loophole tricks that only guys like Hogan are smart enough to pull off. And so the feud continued, only this time with added Sable, Sean O'Haire, Roddy Piper, Stephanie McMahon and Zach Gowen. Awesome! The whole thing was a giant, unfunny misfire and a serious misuse of Hogan, who could have popped a buyate or two as a red and yellow 'special attraction'. Unhappy with his position on the card (along with what he considered low PPV payoffs) Hogan quit the company before the storyline could be resolved. He wouldn't work for WWE again until WrestleMania 21 weekend, where he was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame. Inducted as Hulk Hogan. NOT as Mr. America.
