10 Stupidest Things WWE EVER Promoted

3. Bearcat Lee

Keith Lee's fortunes have been mixed in AEW as of this writing, but an only-okay run alongside and eventually against Swerve Strickland may as well be main eventing 10 consecutive WrestleManias compared to the final indignity he was made to suffer in WWE.

Having absorbed not insignificant damage out of the gate following his 2020 call-up from NXT thanks to condescending cosmetic aesthetic changes, Lee suffered badly with COVID before he could remotely build momentum. Fairing little better in his second attempt on the main roster in mid-2021, the quiet and pensive former NXT Champion was told to shout and roar as he beat the sh*t out of folk and the reasons soon became clear why.

Vignettes soon aired for "Bearcat Lee", the renamed and reimagined Keith, coming with yet another attire change and so many references to him being a literal animal that any possible homage to Edward "Bearcat" Wright were completely and utterly lost.

He clawed his way out of WWE via a November release.
