10 Stupidest WWE Main Events

10. Triple H vs. Randy Orton (WrestleMania XXV)

WrestleMania XXV is remembered mainly for an absolute stormer of a match between Shawn Michaels and The Undertaker. Both men would have another superb bout the following year, but it's the 2009 effort that stands out on this list, because WWE made a sorry mistake with it. Not only was it not the main event, it went on third from last, being supplanted by John Cena vs. Edge vs. The Big Show and the headline attraction. Sadly for WWE, Randy Orton vs. Triple H wasn't the main reason for people tuning into the show. It was an important part of it, yes, but fans were much more enthused to see HBK lock horns with The Undertaker in a battle for the ages. That particular bout should have went on in the main event position, but it didn't, Orton vs. Triple H got the nod instead. Cena vs. Edge vs. Big Show was short enough that fans didn't act with indifference, but the same cannot be said for the main event. After a pretty cool build, during which Orton did everything he could to come across as a mega-heel, the pair simply had a routine wrestling match. The brawling that had led to the bout was confusingly missing, and fans were apathetic as a result.
