1. The Rock 'n' Sock Connection
This is the mismatch to end all mismatches.
Mankind was a haggard, out-of-shape powder keg; everything that The Rock wasn't. So naturally, the two didn't get along, and they battled over the WWF Championship several times from 1998 to 1999. That was, until The Rock was left in a desperate situation.
In August of 1999, The Rock needed someone to help him fight off tag team champions The Undertaker and The Big Show. Mankind was quick to offer his services, leaving Rocky with two options - team with his longtime rival, or die by the hands of these giants. Reluctantly, Rock chose the former.
That night, the unlikely pairing won the tag team championships following a Double People's Elbow to Big Show. They ended up winning the titles two more times together, but what made them most memorable were the segments they created together (which makes sense, considering both men's mastery of the microphone). For example, Mankind's "This is Your Life" ceremony for The Rock earned some of RAW's highest all-time ratings of 8.4.
Sure, they only held gold for 15 days together, but they remain one of WWE's most memorable tag teams of all time to this day.
