10 Successful Mismatched WWE Tag Teams
3. The Mega Powers
Unlike several other entries on this list, these two were not an unlikely pairing because of their aesthetic. Rather, these two were an unlikely pairing because they had been bitter enemies prior to joining together.
Hulk Hogan was the WWF's top babyface, while Randy Savage was one of the company's top heels. Nevertheless, Hogan saved the Macho Man from a beat-down (courtesy of The Honky Tonk Man and The Hart Foundation) on a 1987 episode of Saturday Night's Main Event, solidifying their partnership and Savage's face turn.
The legendary pairing only wrestled together a handful of times on WWF television, but they never lost any of those times. Still, it wasn't long before tensions started to boil between the two megastars.
Starting around the 1988 Survivor Series, Savage began to notice that Hogan was getting a little too friendly with his valet and real-life wife, Miss Elizabeth. The situation grew more uncomfortable week after week, until Savage finally turned on Hogan on a February 1989 episode of Main Event, resulting in a feud that would last most of that year.
While they never captured tag team gold together, their pure star power and timeless handshake earns them a spot on this list.
