10 Superstars Who Have Wrestled In The Most WWE PPV Matches

9. Shawn Michaels

PPV Matches = 117 It seems kind of fitting that Mr WrestleMania makes it onto the list having put on some of the most memorable pay-per-view matches in history at the WWE€™s grandest event of them all. Indeed it was at WrestleMania XII all the way back in 1996 that Shawn Michaels would win his first ever WWE World Heavyweight Championship, defeating Bret Hart in a classic 60-minute Iron Man match. This win was just 1 of 9 WrestleMania matches in which Michaels was involved to have win PWI€™s €œMatch of the Year€ award, showing just why he got the nickname Mr Wrestlemania in the first place. Two more significant WrestleMania matches Michaels was involved in (both of which were included in his list of €œMatch of the Year€ awards) were Ric Flair€™s retirement match at WrestleMania XXIV, when HBK defeated the Nature Boy causing him to retire, and of course his own retirement match when he put his career on the line against The Undertaker€™s Streak in a losing effort. Not all of Michaels€™ big pay-per-view moments happened at WrestleMania though and at Survivor Series in 1997 he was involved in the match where one of the most controversial moments in WWE history occurred. I€™m of course talking about The Montreal Screwjob, where Vince McMahon declared Michaels the winner of the match and new champion despite Bret Hart having never tapped out to the Sharpshooter being applied. Michaels has also enjoyed great success at the Royal Rumble pay-per-views having won back to back Rumble matches in 1995 and 1996. What€™s even more impressive is that he was the 1st entrant into the match in his 1995 victory.
