3. The Genius & Mr Perfect Steal Hogan's WWF Title
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6wXi_-ROcUE The Genius, real name Lanny Poffo, is nowadays more famous after being mired in a seemingly endless dispute with WWE to keep his brother Macho Man Randy Savage out of the Hall of Fame. However, during the 90s he was a flamboyant, villainous, proto-Damien Sandow 'intellectual' who would lecture the crowds on their ignorance. He was allied with Mr Perfect during the late 80s/early 90s and during an episode of Saturday Night Main Event in November 1989, the two men stole Hulk Hogan's WWF title. Hogan was facing The Genius in the ring and was knocked to the outside. While the Genius distracted the referee, Mr Perfect blasted The Hulkster with the belt as he was attempting to climb back onto the apron, putting him down for a countout loss. To celebrate their 'victory', Mr Perfect and his be-robed lackey stole Hogan's championship belt and ran with it to the back where Perfect would destroy it with a hammer as The Genius swanned around in the background like a weird turkey, and Mean Gene Okerlund stood by and watched. It's not just theft, but wilful destruction of property too. There's been a persistent rumour for years that the remains of this belt were fashioned into the taped-together WWF Hardcore title years later, but it's not true. This belt was sold to a private bidder and the Hardcore title was made from scratch.
