10 Superstars Who Will Leave WWE In 2017

5. James Ellsworth

Ellsworth did just sign a contract with WWE, but they didn’t say for how long. It could be a one year deal, which would see him leave the company before 2017 is up.

That shouldn't be any sort of sad news, as Ellsworth beat all the odds and came out of nowhere to experience a run in WWE that thousands of indy hopefuls would have killed for. But it seems that almost for sure he'll be remembered as a one hit wonder. He is the Chumbawamba of the wrestling business.

After Ellsworth’s angle with Dean Ambrose and A.J. Styles plays out, what could WWE even do with him? They’ve positioned him as so amazingly weak, that they couldn’t just start pushing him as a credible wrestler on his own without also making his opponents look like fools. They’d either have to turn him heel and join forces with Styles, which would likely run its course in a couple months, or give him a J.O.B Squad-type stable, which again, wouldn’t be that great.

Hopefully Ellsworth does get to show up now and then in the future after his contract runs out, as he is a fun act, but one best served in small doses. WWE will likely realize that in the coming months, and may just run out of ideas before too long.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
