10 Superstars WWE Tried To Push In 2017 (But Failed Miserably)

5. Dolph Ziggler

The "New year, new me" phrase that is repeated ad nauseam by people around this time of year was anything but the case for Dolph Ziggler in 2017. If anything, he changed virtually nothing about his on-air persona, and remained as stale as month-old bread.

His 2017 could have and should have been a lot better with his heel turn at the onset of the year. Instead, he maintained the same attire and attitude without adjusting a single thing. He just faced babyface wrestlers - and fans couldn't have cared less.

WWE's latest push of Ziggler once again hit a roadblock after WrestleMania, when he feuded with Shinsuke Nakamura and Bobby Roode - two Superstars who clearly have more potential at this point in their respective careers than Ziggler.

He did receive more airtime over the fall by mocking some of WWE history's most iconic entrances, but it was all for naught. Ziggler's sole accomplishment of 2017 saw him capture his second United States Championship at Clash of Champions. Even that, however, amounted to nothing when he "walked out" two days later on SmackDown Live.

Let's all just come to terms with how Ziggler will never get above a certain level again, and stop having false hope regarding renewed pushes for him.
