10 Superstars WWE Tried To Push In 2017 (But Failed Miserably)

4. Bayley

WWE botched Bayley from the moment they called her up to the main roster. Despite that, she was still set to be a big star going into 2017.

She kicked off the year by becoming the Raw Women's champion and successfully defending her title at WrestleMania 33. Sadly, once the company put all their eggs in one basket with Alexa Bliss, they completely rendered Bayley irrelevant.

Her feud with Bliss backfired badly, to the point where she started to get booed in several cities. The atrocious "This Is Your Life" segment, followed up by their Kendo stick-on-a-pole match at Extreme Rules, pretty much killed Bayley dead.

Before Bayley could redeem herself and regain the Raw Women's title at SummerSlam, she suffered an injury that sidelined her from action for over a month. She was then pinned in her first bout back at No Mercy, and swiftly eliminated in a matter of minutes from Team Raw at Survivor Series.

Few stars had a more disappointing 2017 than Bayley. With reports that officials have "given up" on her push, it will take quite a bit for her to be built back up.
