10 Surprising Cameos By WWE Wrestlers In Cartoons

8. Bret Hart - The Simpsons

Prior to the Montreal Screwjob in November 1997, Bret 'The Hitman' Hart was on top of the wrestling world. Front and centre of the WWF as World Champion twice that year, Bret was leading the charge with the reformed Hart Foundation and had one of the greatest WrestleMania matches of all time with 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin. All in all, a pretty damn fine year for 'The Excellence of Execution'... Screwjob aside, that is.

How do you cap off a career-defining year? By crossing over into the most successful cartoon of all time, of course! Bret did just that when, at the height of his popularity, he appeared as himself in an episode of The Simpsons, titled "The Old Man and the Lisa", from Season 8.

Apparently, Bret was actually brought in to play a Russian wrestler - which is why the character sounds unlike Bret at times - however, the writers decided to have Bret appear as himself once they realised just how famous he was. Hart was even immortalised as a Simpsons action figure as part of their "25 of the Greatest Guest Stars" collection.

Bret was also said to be quite insistent that his character appeared in pink and black, once again showing Hart's dedication to 'The Hitman' character. Bret would go on to provide further voice-over work for Canadian cartoon, Jacob Two-Two, playing a wrestler named The Hooded Fang.
