10 Surprising Wrestlers Who've Done Deathmatches
6. Cody
AEW leading light Cody reinvented himself as a workhorse pro after leaving WWE mediocrity behind in 2016. Rhodes Jr's travels took him to ROH, IMPACT, WCPW, PWG, NWA, New Japan and beyond. It's one specific moment from his fleeting Ring Of Honor run that goes under the microscope here.
Just look at the attached pic above.
That's Cody hitting a powerbomb from the second rope on Christopher Daniels, and they're about to land on top of a flaming table... in 2017! If you had to pick two dudes who were least likely to work such a spot that year, you'd struggle. The pair worked a 'Texas Deathmatch' as part of ROH's Survival Of The Fittest tour on 18 November.
Daniels suffered some mild burns from the bump, but nobody got seriously injured. Cody tweeted out video footage of the spot shortly after the show, and it's must-see. It's even more special because he rarely does this kind of stuff.
