10 Terrible Booking Decisions From WWE Survivor Series 2016

4. Why Was Shane Even In The Match?

If the bout between the Raw and SmackDown male singles stars was a battle to prove brand supremacy, what does it say about the SD roster that their own commissioner has so little faith in his talent that he inserted himself into the match rather than rely on one of his contracted wrestlers to fill that spot?

Dolph Ziggler, Baron Corbin, and Apollo Creed are guys who could have easily made the team, and for Corbin especially he could have gotten the rub that Braun Strowman came out of the match with. Instead, we’re supposed to view them as lesser competitors to the 46-year old McMahon who has only had one match in a decade, and that doesn’t speak well of the brand itself.

I’m not taking anything away from his ability in the ring – in fact he’s always entertaining – but from a kayfabe perspective, Shane being part of the team should be incredibly insulting to everyone on the SmackDown roster.
