10 Terrible Habits WWE Commentary Team Need To Break

5. Stop Holding Renee Young Back

Renee Young is the best going on the broadcast team today. That is said without any hyperbole whatsoever. Look at her holding court on the WWE kickoff shows. She displays confidence, an easy laid-back charm, an ability to follow the company line without losing her evident love of the business, and she has the ability to smile genuinely. This is a lost art. She's also a dab hand on commentary, as her work on NXT has proven. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2O6m8ib5YQM In the above clip, she's excitable and funny, clear and concise. She's also able to cram in a pop culture reference to Wayne Rooney that doesn't feel impossibly forced. If the WWE are dead set on their constant pop culture awareness in their commentary team (and they are), doesn't it make more sense to employ someone in that task who's younger than 40? Also, and this is no small point, she's a woman, and after countless decades of old dudes, isn't it time we got to hear regular female commentary for a change? Lack of experience is a non-issue. She has just as much broadcast experience as Tom Phillips and he's called for Smackdown. Are the WWE worried she might burst into tears out there or some other nonsense?
