10 Terrible WWE Main Events One Tweak Away From Excellence

8. John Cena Vs R-Truth (Capitol Punishment)

Why it's terrible: For a turn and 30-day push that came completely out of the blue, the eventual match was too moribund to justify a month of madness.

One Tweak: For a change - deliver a f*ck finish fans don't mind seeing.

R-Truth's turn saw WWE steer into the chaos for the last topline programme to occur before CM Punk dropped a "pipe bomb" on the industry, so why not book the match in line with that.

Cena and Truth engaged in minimal banter before 'The Champ' made mincemeat of his clearly inferior rival, killing most of his heat in the process. This wouldn't show itself until months later when Truth had to be taken seriously alongside the The Miz as p*ssed off rebels against babyface authority figure Triple H.

Re-read that pitch, because nobody within WWE did. Audiences didn't believe any of it - both men had already been neutered beyond repair by 'The Champ'.
