10 Things AEW Are Getting Absolutely Right At The Moment

9. Britt & Tony

You can't plan chemistry. Pro wrestling history is littered with seemingly perfect bedfellows who just couldn't create magic together, legends of the sport who seemed to become amateurs when paired with each other. Just as you can't predict bad chemistry, you can't predict those who are going to be excellent together. That's just how chemistry works.

Nobody would have guessed that one year into Dynamite's existence, Britt Baker and Tony Schiavone would be the pairing with the best on-screen chemistry in the company. Baker has been a revelation since turning heel but her momentum was cruelly stopped by a couple of serious injuries, robbing her of what should have been nine months of development and excellence. Not to worry, as Baker continued to shine in backstage segments, getting her heel persona over and learning how to perform in the process.

Her relationship with commentator Tony Schiavone is one of the most peculiarly entertaining parts of Dynamite. Baker actually turned heel when she berated Tony on the Jericho cruise, but the two have since developed a weird dynamic that hasn't really been explained and may well be all the better for it.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
