10 Things AEW Fans Want After Double Or Nothing
1. Stories
Double Or Nothing proved that the WWE style of wrestling is not the only style that can impress a big TV audience. But wrestling isn't just about what goes on in the ring.
As impressive as the in-ring work at Double Or Nothing was, storytelling is just as important in wrestling as the actual moves, perhaps even more so.
A lot of the matches just felt like they'd been thrown together willy-nilly, especially The Best Friends vs. Evans and Angelico and the six-woman tag. The other big matches had stories, but a lot of them had been told on "Being The Elite" or at indie shows, so many fans had no idea why these wrestlers wanted to fight each other.
It's hard for AEW to build effective stories at the moment, because they don't have a weekly TV show. When that show launches later this year, hopefully things will get easier for AEW, but they need to find a way around that for the time being.
They have already started to do this - as the emotional ending to Cody vs. Dustin proved (I'm not crying, you're crying!) - but, if they really want to rival WWE, AEW need to begin laying the groundwork for the rest of their big stories before their TV deal kicks in.
